Great new book out from Storm! Must Read! Click on the picture to buy.
Fantasy meets Reality in Cyberspace, in a world where our online and offline experiences, friendships and even, our identities are excitingly entangled. Avatars are extensions of us, leading lives parallel to our own dull everyday existence. There are no limits to our Virtual Lives and we are free to live in any World we choose. Having a Virtual Life sets you free to dream and some dreams do come true.
Storm and Dude are partners. In spite of the fiercely opposing time zones, they meet and fall in love on the dance floor of the Junkyard Blues Club in the Virtual World of Second Life. They begin collecting breedable cats and their Second Life gets very crowded, so together they open Not Another Kitten, a Cat Shop in Cyberspace. Then the Cat Shop meets the University and both Worlds collide with laughter.
Meet the Divine Penny, the Italian-speaking Siamese cat, with the delicate chocolate paws, and find out if Professor Poppett’s poodle recovers from ‘indoor barking syndrome’. Go on an adventure in the alligator infested bayou to hunt for the Golden Kitten and find out why love always wins the day.
Quite an achievment. Started as a blog and became a book. Well done Storm very proud of you!
Put two good-looking cats in one room together and they get ………..frisky! Your cats will be adult when they are 7 days old and to breed they need to have; 25% Energy, 75% Happiness, 100% Love, (we would all like that!) and not more than 25% hungry.
The cats need to be in range of each other and this is the hard bit, your cats need to be awake to get a kitten – (wake up you little monsters).
The new kitten appears ready packed in a box and you have a tense fifteen minutes waiting for the box to open. You can save your boxes for later if you want.
Register with KittyCats.biz and you can see all your cats on a pedigree chart. If two cats have some interesting traits you can pair them together as partners and try for a “wunderkind”.
Your Kitty has various characteristics, traits and some of these will be dominant. Fur, ears, colouration, whiskers, eyes can all be bred for. Each kitty has a history and going back to the grandfather / mother you can see what traits might appear. Genetics for our kittys is somewhat hit and miss however our experience is that you can produce some very cute and interesting cats. The “boring” ones can be left in their boxes in your inventory. When you get your kitty you can register with KittyCats.biz and see your cats pedigree.
I don’t know what you think of all this but I will say this: The experience of being an avatar in second life becomes very real. It is not so far fetched to extend this reality to other objects in the world. Where these objects look like cute kitty cats that move and act like real cats, can be petted and show response to this petting; have to be fed; can get sick then they become very real. If we have a cat in real life we find they have personalities. Likewise we can give our secondlife pets a personality. This all goes to make the whole experience very real.
One of the features of Photoshop is the ability to make the background transparent. It is then possible to paste the image on top of any background. This was how I was able to have my avatar in the Google offices. This was done by taking the first picture in front of a “green screen” a single colour background to facilitate its removal.
I am now able to do this with video.
Pretty good for my first attempt. I will be able to run a movie as a background. This means that one of my goals, that of bringing sl into rl is closer to being realised.
My choreographer friend Arabella has already come up with an idea of Halloween dances performing in front of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. She needed to see her video again so here it is.

I come across gems in second life. I think it is the blues community, nice thinking. My fav blogger is Serendipity Haven (serenhaven.wordpress.com)who writes little stories that are so informative and entertaining. Highly recommended. AND not just for second life users either. I have blogged about her before. Read her latest offering, its very informative.
Take my partner, she has an awesome job that keeps her very busy but she spends much of her spare time with me. In her “spare” time she is a poet and has her own site. JessikaJenvieve.com fabulous poetry. Heres one she wrote for me:
It is Best
You wanted a love song
I don’t have the words
Cordelia – like, I have nothing to say
but it is inside,
I just can’t put my finger on.
You want forever and I want you to tell me
the pain in my head won’t kill me.
I want you to make my tea and a cheese sandwich.
I don’t want words, I want silence.
There’s a tangle of lyrics out there
waiting for me to catch my foot in them.
Pick the wrong one and you will fire up again.
Say nothing, it is safe.
It is best.
“I’m a mature socialite cougar 60 k living in millionaires paradise” she says on skype……Love her sense of humour. We get on so well and are partners in second life, the online community. We spend a lot of time chatting to a background of the blues. Here you can see us dancing. At the top right are private messages bottom left are local messages.
While hosting (a host manages the dj session greeting people and providing help like joining the group) I met a person who was fun to chat to, who I hadn’t met before. She too has a blog and this is what I found:
We seem to think that big events and weighty, important conversations make the bulk of a relationship. Yet .. it’s chatting of little nothings .. how spring air moves and caresses across the face .. picking dandelions and sending them off to seed other places .. or sharing two blades of grass with a friend and trying to make a blade-of-grass kazoo together.
Lobbing nonesense words and silly verses between us .. twirling and feinting at nothing .. nothing moments are what I miss.
If you are the very best of friends with me, I will fill you with letters of little nothings.
Her site which she hasn’t updated in a while is http://vixenquandry.wordpress.com/
One of the things people love to do is take photos in second life it is very photogenic. So here is a gallery a person I met in a European blues club. Name of Schlock who has a wonderful talking parrot called Clyde with, i would say, artificial intelligence!!!!
Heres the gallery, sorry missed Clyde but i sent Schlock an email coz he should have a blog!!
Then another person with a site http://www.deadmonkeysociety.org/writtenword/index.html the front page looks like this:
All this is just a taste of the variety of people that you meet in second life. It is a community of intelligent diverse people. Possibly it is the blues community as this is all i have experience of. I am still exploring and have lots to learn. I will have been in second life for a year. Yes I am addicted.
Its not a problem
Here is a picture of my Storm Constantine (aka Jessika) we have known each other for six months and we decided to partner. This means we have made a commitment to share and cherish each other. It may be likened to a marriage, the “ceremony” was an email and now we appear in each others profile.
There is a wonderful thing that happens in second life. You become one with your avatar and truly your avatar becomes an extension of yourself. when you join with another avatar like in a dance something magical happens. You begin to feel with your avatar. Holding your partner becomes as though you are holding a real person and in some ways you are. It feels real. You can get incredibly close to someone. It starts in chat. As in anywhere / place chatting to someone brings you close to that person. We have chat in secondlife. However how do you explain a kiss producing a physical response in real life? Second Life is awesome. I can only suggest you try it for yourself. If you need a decent avatar let Avatar Creations know and we will make you beautiful.
I am desperate to teach. One way will be to have a virtual classroom in second life. I found such a classroom in my wanderings. AND found a whole world of teaching at Texas State. Here is the classroom I found Set up by the look of it as a Primary School Classroom. ,> you can watch it better on this page< Or watch it here:
But Then Dear Readers I returned a bit later to the classroom and found a techy working there. We chatted and they will be using the classroom for teacher training. Another opportunity for Avatar Creations perhaps. However I got a link to a great project they had going in 2011.
Heres An Explanation of it. :>
My next step is to visit.
Unfortunately the cones appear to be inactive. Could be my viewer and / or might need a plugin.
HOWEVER as you can see from the first video Second Life has a great academic role to play. The construction of the virtual classroom using modern techniques and make for a truly realistic environment. What I plan is a feature not seemingly explored that of facilitating DISTANCE LEARNING. In Hinduism, an avatar/ˈævətɑr/ (Hindustani: [əʋt̪aːr], from Sanskritअवतारavatāra “descent”) is a deliberate descent of a deity to earth, or a descent of the Supreme Being (i.e., Vishnu for Vaishnavites), and is mostly translated into English as “incarnation”, but more accurately as “appearance” or “manifestation”.
Your avatar is your representation descended down to the 3D cybercommunity of second life. You have or can have god like powers. You can create your own realm or join with others in theirs. You are as tall or as short, fat or thin as you like. I am of average build and 7ft 6ins tall (228cms) One of my favourite cybercommunities in second life is that of the blues community. I was in Junkyard Blues Club and we were talking about sailing. The realm or sim is based in The Gulf of Mexico. With a wave of my hand I manifested or rezzed a beautiful fully equipped 60ft yacht and invited 6 people to come sailing with me. I can raise sails including a spinnaker control the wind and sail around the 13 sims. [there is a video below, sailing on a 200 sim ocean. Remember I am seven and a half feet tall, for scale purposes.] Quite god like. I also have the ability to create peacocks any number anywhere it is allowed by the locale. I have two on my island. Pippi and Clara. The animations like many in second life are created using motion capture of the real thing. Quite god like. When the Greek gods visited the world they were of pleasing countenance. As was Krishna. If you are a professional in second life you will need a “pleasing countenance” to be taken seriously. A new avatar with jerky movements and inept mannerisms will not be accepted. The cost to you is small compared to the advantages. Second life is expanding more and more into teaching and into professional role playing. There appear to be some cognitive benefits too. This is being explored. It is free to join, so please join us for an enriching professional experience.
